worser bay boating club

As part of our commitment to support our local community, we will be working with the Worser Bay Boating Club over the 2007-2008 sailing season to implement recycling systems for glass, aluminium and plastic.

No recycling is currently done at the club, and all waste generated from their 300 plus members each weekend goes directly to the landfill: that's about 16.5 cubic metres per year.

Recycling could save a large volume of bottles and cans being dumped into the waste stream. Estimates from previous seasons indicate these numbers to be:
Glass bottles - 2,200+
Aluminium cans - 400+
Plastic bottles - 50+
then there's the green waste...

We'll keep you updated with how the new system is recieved and supported, and the volume of waste that we manage to divert from landfill.
